Russell’s Reserve 10-Year-Old Bourbon Review

Distiller: Wild Turkey. ABV: 45%. Age: 10 years. Mashbill: 75% corn, 13% rye, 12% malted barley. Price: $35-50.

Looking to pair a delicious bourbon with grilled meats, great company, and good conversation, this past weekend I cracked open this Russell’s Reserve 10-Year-Old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey.

The Russell’s Reserve is a line from Wild Turkey that focuses on small batch and single barrel releases. It elevates the already excellent profile of the Wild Turkey 101 into a line of first-rate sippers.

The Russell’s Reserve 10 starts with lots of sweetness on the nose, especially vanilla and caramel. On the palate is a good balance of sweetness and spice, but it’s not overly complex. The sweetness is darker on the palate than the nose–brown sugar, chocolate. and dates. mixed with some nutty and oaky notes. Spice dominates the medium-long finish.

This is a great all around bourbon that both novices and experienced drinkers can enjoy. Cheers, friends! – JTR
